The Watchtower
Once upon a time, there was a man named Jacob who married Laban's 2 daughters. He served Laban for a long time so he could marry Rachel, the younger daughter. The time came when Jacob had to go back to his homeland.
Jacob decided to flee back to Canaan with his family while Laban was not at home. When the latter found out that Jacob left, he felt betrayed and quickly chased them. Before he was about the meet Jacob in the hill of Gilead, God warned Laban in a dream not to harm Jacob.
When Laban finally caught up with Jacob, they made a covenant instead on which they gathered stones to set up as a pillar. Laban called it Mizpah, meaning 'watchtower' which served as the boundary between them. A promised was made that they wouldn't cross at each other's boundary and that God would be watching them.
The next day, Laban was able to say goodbye to her daughters and grandchildren. Jacob and his household was finally able to return to Canaan peacefully.
